New from the Springsteen archive: September 21st, 1978 – Passaic, NJ – Capitol Theatre

December 2017 saw the release of Bob Clearmountain’s measuring stick mix of September 20th; September 2019 saw the rating scale-breaking release of the Pièce De Résistance, September 19th; and now in March 2024 the 1978 Passaic trilogy is complete. Having had those two shows on rotation for the last several years, it can be safely … Continue reading New from the Springsteen archive: September 21st, 1978 – Passaic, NJ – Capitol Theatre

New from the Springsteen archive: December 12th, 1975 – Greenvale, NY – C.W. Post Dome

As the seventh year of Springsteen's Live Archive Series comes to an end, Nugs' special tradition continues with a seventh Christmas bonus, and once again it's far from being comparable to coal in a stocking. Following The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts of November and the opening night of the legendary Nassau Coliseum concerts earlier … Continue reading New from the Springsteen archive: December 12th, 1975 – Greenvale, NY – C.W. Film Review: The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts (2021)

In March 1979, the Three Mile Incident in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania led to huge concerns from the American public about the direction their country was heading in relation to nuclear usage, and those fearing the possibility of even greater catastrophes sought to have their voices heard by the men and women at the top. Four … Continue reading Film Review: The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts (2021)

New Album Review: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts (2021)

On December 24th, 2018, No Nukes 1979 was released as the Christmas bonus in Bruce Springsteen's Live Archive Series, and while it didn't bring about the same level of excitement that other releases in the Series have, it successfully served fans with an opportunity to experience Bruce and the E Street Band at a midpoint … Continue reading New Album Review: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts (2021)

The Legendary No Nukes Concerts – September 21st & 22nd, 1979 – Madison Square Garden [DVD, CD and Double LP coming in November!]

On the day of Bruce Springsteen’s 72nd birthday, it’s finally been confirmed that his legendary 1979 No Nukes concerts will be released this coming November on multiple formats: Blu-ray, Double Vinyl and CD – with a Digital release on November 16th – presenting to a wider audience exactly what fans who’ve been watching select footage since 1979, and listening to the Archive Series releases from December 2018 have been in awe of – Springsteen and the E Street Band at the very top of their game.

With a new audio mix worked on by Bob Clearmountain and delectable 16mm footage restored and pieced together by Thom Zimny, I don’t want to get ahead of myself in saying this will better or even touch the 2015 release of November 5th, 1980 from Tempe, AZ, but based on the footage we’ve been given a teaser of in the trailer accompanying today’s news, we might well be thinking that upon the end of our watches. The thought of September 22nd’s “Quarter to Three” in HD quality is just, wow!

The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts have been stated to be available from November 19th, and you can be sure to read more about them on this site. Until then, rave on!

Kieran's Thoughts, Previews & Reviews

While the last four years have gifted us special archive releases very close to Christmas, there was some doubt that 2018 would see a bonus show released, given how The Roxy ’75 was released on December 7th andSpringsteen on Broadway dropped as both an album and a live concert viewing on Netflix last weekend. I think this Friday has really shown that you can never doubt or predict what’s to come from this series, as a release happening in the form of the famous 1979 performances from the MSG concerts by the Musicians United for Safe Energy (M.U.S.E) popped up somewhat unexpectedly, leaving several fans set to continue their hopes of one or both shows from Winterland ’78 for 2019.

Regardless of what fans may have initially wanted however, these two shows from September 21st and 22nd 1979, coming a year after the peak of their greatest tour, provide everlasting proof…

It's been a long six weeks for fans of Bruce Springsteen's Live Archive Series, with a dreaded delay leaving us having to rely on Boston 1992 (and the sixty-six concerts unearthed prior) a little while longer as Nugs and Bruce Inc. got to work on number sixty-eight, and all of the hassle its mixing and … Continue reading New from the Springsteen archive: July 1st, 1978 – Berkeley, CA – Berkeley Community Theatre
